UP Government to Take Strict Action Against Hospitals Violating Ayushman Scheme Norms

Health inspection team reviewing hospital facilities under Ayushman Bharat scheme in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to act strictly against hospitals that do not follow the rules and standards laid down under the Ayushman scheme. The State Health Agency has formed a four-member team for this purpose. The team has begun surprise inspections of hospitals empanelled with the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).

SACHIS CEO Archana Verma said the inspections are being carried out on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to assess the facilities available at empanelled hospitals.

She said the four-member team recently inspected hospitals linked to the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Lucknow. The team reviewed the available infrastructure, human resources, staff behaviour, cleanliness arrangements, and the management and disposal of biomedical waste. It also collected information about the facilities provided to patients.

The SACHIS CEO stated that every hospital associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme must follow its rules. Any hospital found not meeting the prescribed standards during inspection will face action as per the rules.

All Ayushman-empanelled hospitals have been directed to comply fully with the scheme’s rules and standards. They have been asked to pay special attention to cleanliness, behaviour towards patients, staff availability, biomedical waste disposal, arrangements in operation theatres (OTs) and ICUs, and giving patients information about the Ayushman scheme.
