How to Check PMJAY Card Balance — Remaining Coverage Amount

How to Check Your PMJAY Card Balance

Your Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY card provides ₹5 lakh of health coverage per family per year. Every time a family member gets treated at a PMJAY hospital, the treatment cost is deducted from this balance. Knowing your remaining balance is important — especially if multiple family members need treatment in the same year.

Method 1 — Check Through ABHA App

The ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) app shows your treatment history and remaining coverage. Log in with your registered mobile number, go to the “Treatment History” or “Claims” section, and you can see each claim amount deducted. The remaining balance is calculated as ₹5 lakh minus the total of all claims in the current year.

Method 2 — Check at the Hospital

When you visit any PMJAY empanelled hospital, the Ayushman Mitra can check your remaining balance on the PM-JAY portal. This is the most reliable method as the hospital system shows real-time data including pending claims and approved amounts.

Method 3 — Call 14555

Call the PMJAY helpline at 14555 and provide your PM-JAY card number or Aadhaar number. The operator can check your treatment history and remaining balance.

How the ₹5 Lakh Balance Works

The ₹5 lakh is a family floater — shared among all family members. If your father uses ₹2 lakh for knee replacement, the remaining ₹3 lakh is available for you, your mother, and other family members for the rest of that policy year.

The balance resets every year on the anniversary of the policy. Unused amounts do not carry forward. There is no bonus or penalty for using or not using the coverage.

For families with high medical needs — for example, a cancer patient needing multiple chemotherapy cycles plus a family member needing joint replacement — the ₹5 lakh may not be sufficient. In such cases, check if your state provides additional top-up coverage beyond the central PM-JAY limit. Several states offer extended coverage.
